After the ordeal she went through in Russia, WNBA star Brittney Griner has no plan to play for a European club again ... ever.

Griner admitted as much in a recent interview after she made her return to Europe as part of Team USA, which will compete in the upcoming Olympics in Paris. While Griner has no problem going back to Europe to play for the nation, joining a basketball team on the continent is a different matter.

"Of course I will travel here with my family at some point for a vacation, but basketball in Europe is over for me," Griner shared, via AFP.

"I want to spend time with my family, my little boy, and I don't want to miss anything. It was time to close this chapter anyway, it just didn't end the way I wanted."

Back in February 2022, Brittney Griner was arrested and imprisoned in Russia due to drug charges. She spent 10 months in prison before being released in December of the same year through a prisoner exchange with the USA.

At the time of her arrest, Griner was playing for Russian women's basketball team UMMC Ekaterinburg.

It's easy to see where Griner is coming from. As she hinted, she simply doesn't want to relive the memories she had while playing in Europe. The Phoenix Mercury star is simply focused on playing basketball in the US and her family.
