Manchester United are considering a swoop for Denzel Dumfries, which could potentially involve Aaron Wan-Bissaka moving to Inter Milan in a swap deal.

United has already welcomed two new players this summer and is now eyeing the wing-back, who has been on their radar for some time. Both Dumfries and Wan-Bissaka's contracts are set to expire in 12 months.

United are keen to offload Wan-Bissaka, with West Ham showing interest, but any departure would mean taking a significant financial loss. However, a swap deal might be an appealing solution for both United and Inter.

According to The Athletic , intermediaries have floated the idea of such a trade, though discussions are still in the preliminary stages. Ten Hag's Dutch heritage is thought to be playing a role in the potential transfer of Dumfries.

Dumfries had a less than stellar season, only starting 19 games in Serie A, leading to public criticism from his manager Simone Inzaghi. He said: "He did very well last year until December, then he had a problem and the last few months were not up to his standards, but at the European Championships we saw the usual Dumfries."

Ex-United captain Rio Ferdinand has previously praised Dumfries and was instrumental in Leny Yoro's decision to join Manchester from Lille, snubbing Real Madrid. He would likely endorse the acquisition of Dumfries.

He praised the Dutch player, saying: "They're the outlet that get beyond, and he's a player you look at and think that he's athletic, can beat people one-on-one. It's not just about being there, it's the quality.

"He's not putting balls in willy-nilly, he's picking people out, those cutbacks have been ever so dangerous. He doesn't mind working at the other end of the pitch, as well. He's been a breath of fresh air for them and a very important player."

Liverpool.com says: Dumfries showed his abilities at the Euros with the Dutch and would be a decent addition to the United defense. He would have to battle with Diogo Dalot for a starting spot but it does appear that Wan-Bissaka's time at Old Trafford is coming to an end.
