What would happen if you put LeBron James in the 1970s? Well, most fans today believe that the Los Angeles Lakers star would easily dominate in that era. Fans point to LeBron's supreme athleticism as the main reason.

Well, an NBA legend pushed back on that sentiment. NBA Hall of Famer Isiah Thomas replied to a post on X making that claim with a stern response.

Thomas said that he doesn't think LeBron will be as dominant as people claim he will be.

"I find it comical and laughable how some not all people think this is the first generation of basketball players that athletically could run and jump. I'm not sure he would be the best athlete in 1975 all things being equal," Thomas said.

It's an interesting take and an even more interesting thought experiment. LeBron is obviously a gifted athlete, so he'd likely succeed in any era. How much he'll be successful there is a different story.

Would we consider him one of the greatest of all time? It's hard to tell. Regardless, Thomas wants fans to have some respect for those who came before them.
