TUCSON— As summer temperatures soar in Arizona, self-care becomes essential. Swimming and enjoying splash pads can offer much-needed relief.

To celebrate these summer essentials, Tucson Parks and Recreation invites the community to the grand opening of a new splash pad and the reopening of the pool at Fort Lowell Park, 2900 N. Craycroft Road, on Saturday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m.

The new splash pad, located adjacent to the existing pool, marks the city’s ninth splash pad. This development is funded by Tucson Delivers, the 2018 voter-approved Proposition 407 bond.

“Splash pads are helping us bring more amenities to our city parks. They are a critical part of our network of heat relief infrastructure, helping Tucsonans stay cool,” said Tucson Mayor Regina Romero. “It is great to see the transformation taking place at Fort Lowell Park, an important gathering place for the east side community that brings families together.”

The pool upgrades include the removal of the old wading pool, a new metal roof over the bathhouse, and the installation of new showers, outdoor furniture, lockers, and plumbing.

"I'm thrilled that yet another splash pad is available to the residents of Ward 2. I'm equally as thrilled that the Fort Lowell Pool is now fixed and reopened for use again,” said Ward 2 Council Member Paul Cunningham. “Fort Lowell Park has so much to offer, and I can't wait to see families enjoying these amenities for years to come."
