Rick Hearst Opens up About His Return to GH

You’d think that after the recent announcements that Bryan Craig was coming back as Morgan and Jonathan Jackson was returning to play Lucky again , General Hospital wouldn’t have any other tricks up its sleeve this summer. But you’d be wrong! On July 25 the soap revealed that Rick Hearst was coming back to play Sonny’s brother, Ric! “Very excited to announce my return to GH in the role of Ric Lansing ,” Hearst shared on Instagram. “Stay tuned. You never know what you’re gonna get with this guy.”

Hearst’s original run on GH ran from 2002-09, and he reprised the role in 2014 but hasn’t been seen in Port Charles since 2016. The actor snapped a selfie video he shared to his social media channels to address his fans directly.

“Hey there, everybody, it’s Rick Hearst,” he began, “and I’m sure you’ve all heard the news by now but if not, I am on my way back to the halls of General Hospital to reprise my role of Ric Lansing. I’m super excited about it. It definitely came as a pleasant gift and a surprise. I’m looking forward to being able to take the story that’s going to be coming out… a lot of exciting stuff.

“Of course, Ric tends to be in everybody’s business all at once and always has his own agenda,” Hearst added with a laugh. “There’ll be a lot of great, wonderful, exciting story points for you guys to follow. Please tune in and again, thank you for your support all these years. For being such dedicated fans of the show and of me. So thanks very much, guys. Be on the lookout. Air dates will come. See you soon!”

With Molly preparing to welcome a baby through surrogacy with Kristina, she could definitely use her father around for support. Plus, Sonny is heading into a vicious custody battle with Avery, and Ric is an attorney, so maybe he could help his brother out? In the comments of Hearst’s post, Kin Shriner (Scott) declared: “I hope we square off in court. You remember how much fun we had? Welcome back!”

Whatever brings Ric back to Port Charles, there’s sure to be plenty of drama, so don’t miss a single minute!
