Swimming events are quickly approaching at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris , as the action in the pool is scheduled to begin on Saturday, July 27.

Most events will take place in Olympic swimming pool at Paris' La Défense Arena , the first time the modern venue has ever hosted the sport.

Separately, the Seine River will host triathlon and marathon swimming races. Swimming in the Seine has been banned since 1923, and athletes have expressed frustration with the high amounts of fecal bacteria plaguing the river . Olympic organizers invested $1.5 billion to bring the water back to safer standards for the 2024 Paris Games, but it hasn't come without backlash, as some Parisians in June threatened to defecate in the Seine to protest the large sums France committed to river clean-up instead of social causes.

Team USA is headlined by stars such as Katie Ledecky , who is only the ninth American swimmer to qualify for four Olympic games, and Caeleb Dressel , who won five gold medals in Tokyo.

Which events is Katie Ledecky competing in?

Ledecky sprung to fame by winning 800 meter freestyle gold at the 2012 Olympics in London as a 15-year-old and has gone on to become an Olympic champion at every freestyle distance from 200 meters to 1500 meters.

In addition to her gold medal in London, Ledecky won gold in the 200 meter, 400 meter and 800 meter freestyle in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, in addition to the 4x200 meter freestyle relay. She also won gold in the 800 meter freestyle and 1500 meter freestyle in Tokyo.

Overall, she has 10 Olympic medals to her name, with seven being gold and three being silver.

Here's a breakdown of her expected events at the 2024 Games, according to USA Swimming's official 2024 U.S. Olympic Team roster, and when those races are scheduled to happen:

• Women's 400 meter Freestyle - Heats: Saturday, July 27 between 5 a.m.-7 a.m. ET
• Women's 400 meter Freestyle - Final*: Saturday, July 27 between 2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. ET
• Women's 1500 meter Freestyle - Heats: Tuesday, July 30 between 5 a.m.-7 a.m. ET
• Women's 1500 meter Freestyle - Final*: Wednesday, July 31 between 2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. ET
• Women's 4x200 meter Freestyle Relay - Heats: Thursday, Aug. 1 between 5 a.m.-7 a.m. ET
• Women's 4x200 meter Freestyle Relay - Final*: Thursday, Aug. 1 between 2:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. ET
• Women's 800 meter Freestyle - Heats: Friday, Aug. 2 between 5 a.m.-7 a.m. ET

Which events is Caeleb Dressel competing in?

Dressel made his Olympic debut in Rio in 2016, bringing home the gold in the 4x100 meter medley relay and 4x100 freestyle relay.

In Tokyo, he again won gold in those two events, in addition to the men's 50 meter freestyle, men's 100 meter freestyle and men's 100 meter butterfly, giving him a total of seven gold medals across both Olympic Games.

Dressel is expected to compete in the 50 meter freestyle, 100 meter butterfly and the 4x100 meter freestyle relay in Paris, according to USA Swimming's official 2024 U.S. Olympic Team roster. Here's when those races are scheduled to happen:
