LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A Central Pennsylvania man was sentenced to several years in prison for having fake U.S. passports, prosecutors announced Friday.

David Romero, 68, of Lancaster, will spend two and a half years in prison with three years of supervised release after being sentenced by United States Attorney Jacqueline Romero, according to the Department of Justice.

Romero was convicted on four counts each of passport forgery and possession of counterfeit passports, and one count of possession of 15 or more counterfeit devices, the DOJ says.

Prosecutors said there were fraudulent U.S. passport cards, driver’s licenses and identification cards, and counterfeit bank, debit, and credit cards, and a notebook where Romero practiced forging signatures, found at his home when agents served a search warrant. The documents had names of other people and Romero’s face on them.

Department of State, Diplomatic Security Service investigated the case, and it was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys John Boscia and Timothy Lanni
