WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The West Lafayette Police Department announced their seizure of a large quantity of illegal drugs, as well as two handguns, following a search of an apartment.

WLPD said they were conducting a routine patrol of Waterfront Apartments on Thursday around 9:40 p.m. There, they spotted several suspected illegal drugs, in plain view inside a vehicle. After determining which apartment the car belonged to, the officers received a search warrant and began an investigation.

During the search, officers said they found:

    • 417 grams of methamphetamine
    • 793 grams of marijuana
    • 2 kilograms of “spice” (aka K2—designer cannabinoids intended to mimic THC)
    • 27 grams of designer THC
    • 15 grams of psilocybin mushrooms

Two handguns were also seized from the apartment, WLPD said.

This resulted in the arrest of Rufus J. Duncan, a 41-year-old West Lafayette man. He is preliminary charged with dealing and possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and a controlled substance. He also faces charges for possessing a firearm (both by a convicted felon and by a convicted domestic batterer).

A booking photo for Duncan has not been provided as of this article’s publication.
