Ever since the final trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine dropped, fans have been obsessed with one question: Who is Lady Deadpool? Now that the movie is out, we've learned that the alternative reality version of Deadpool is none other than Blake Lively , real-life wife of Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds (not Taylor Swift , as some speculated). Now Lively is sharing some unbelievable details about how deeply connected she really is to the character.
In a recent post to Instagram, Lively told the story of how Deadpool creator (and Gossip Girl fan) Rob Liefeld based Lady Deadpool on her all the way back in 2010, before there was even a Deadpool movie—and before she and Reynolds started dating.
"In 2010 I was on Gossip Girl and about to film my first superhero movie, The Green Lantern with my kind Canadian costar @vancityreynolds ," Lively wrote.
"He told me, our other costar, another superhero newby @taikawaititi and all of us about @deadpoolmovie for the first time. It was a 'meta' superhero. Most of us didn’t know what exactly meta meant back then. Except Taika bc he’s always been more brilliant than the rest of us mortals. We understood in theory, but how it would come together for an audience was murky, for everyone but him. It wasn’t a real dream. The movie was never gonna happen. Just before all this in 2010, @robliefeld drew an unmasked Lady Deadpool for the first time, go to the next slide for his words. @deadpoolmovie wasn’t real. And Rob had no idea I was working with @vancityreynolds . 12 years later I read Rob’s post. A year after that, @deadpoolmovie 3 was filmed. And today it’s in theaters. The universe has such a magical sense of humor sometimes."

As for the slide from Liefeld, he noted, "If ever we are blessed with Lady Deadpool on screen I'm pretty certain Ms. Lively will have some say in the casting."

Commenters were blown away by the fateful tale.
"All the invisible strings!" wrote one fan, while another called Lively "such a QUEEEENN!!"
While Lively isn't actually the actress in the Lady Deadpool suit in the movie (a stunt double plays the role), she did give her voice to character—and she wore a very Lady Deadpool-themed outfit to the movie's premiere.
"It’s hard not to encourage my ladies to spot all the ways we’ve influenced @deadpoolmovie I’ve never been more proud," Lively wrote on Instagram , captioning a photo of her kissing Reynolds in full Deadpool makeup. "And I’ve given birth 4 times."
