Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and his wife, Loreal, made the stunning announcement that they are filing for divorce. They announced the news in a joint Instagram post on Friday night.

“After many heartfelt conversations, we have decided to amicably part ways and jointly file for divorce, the statement read . “We aim to remain the best of friends and are incredibly grateful for the love and support we have shared throughout our journey together. Our commitments to our respective careers made it difficult to prioritize time for each other and this step will provide us with the necessary time and space professionally while continuing to support each other personally.

“While we appreciate all the love and encouragement we have received, we kindly ask for your understanding and privacy during this transition as we embark on this new chapter in our lives.”

After the announcement, Loreal Sarkisian was trending as many college football fans had questions about Sarkisian's wife.

Loreal was a track athlete at North Carolina A&T, where she was named the MEAC Woman of the Year in 2009. She placed seventh in the 100m hurdles at the 2009 NCAA Championships and reached the semifinals at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials.

After her college career, Loreal accepted a position as an assistant coach at USC in 2013. She also briefly served as a volunteer assistant coach at Florida.

Loreal now works as a wardrobe stylist, launching her own company in 2017.

Steve Sarkisian will aim to lead the Longhorns back to the College Football Playoff. Texas transitions to the SEC from the Big 12, but the Longhorns are still expected to compete for the conference title in their first season.

Texas opens the 2024 season against Colorado State on Aug. 31 at DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m./CT on ESPN.
