Shawn Michaels explained what made Scott Hall so special in the ring.

The Heartbreak Kid had a long history with Scott Hall, in and out of the ring. The pair were fierce friends backstage, being two-fifths of The Kliq . Meanwhile, their rivalry in the ring was one of the best, too.

Shawn Michaels battled Razor Ramon in numerous classic matches. This included their i conic ladder match at WrestleMania X , where they competed to become the undisputed Intercontinental Champion. This match showed how good Hall was, but that wasn’t just why.

In an interview with Justin Barrasso for Sports Illustrated , Shawn Michaels spoke about what made Scott Hall so good. He explained that Hall didn’t work like a “big guy” despite being 6’7″.

He was deceptively big, wrestling like somebody much smaller than him. This allowed him to wrestle matches others couldn’t, and what made Scott Hall so special in the ring.

“It’s interesting–Scott was a big guy who never worked big.” Shawn Michaels said. “That’s what was so awesome about working with Scott. He’d have no problem shooting off and taking a tackle from me. Trick’s the same way. You forget how big he is.”

“Plenty of guys work the big guy gimmick that aren’t even Scott’s size, but he never did. You didn’t think about him as being so big.”

“It’s funny, I never put Scott in the same category of big man as Kevin Nash because of the way Scott wrestled. And Kevin wrestled an innovative style, too. Scott could have wrestled like a big guy and he could have gotten away with it, but he never did. That’s what made him so special.”
