Diana Taurasi has been in the game for over twenty years. And yet, the Phoenix Mercury legend still struggles to gain respect sometimes. Her selection to Team USA was heavily criticized by many fans due to her age.

However, LeBron James' age has been used as a way to give him credit in the public eye. It's an interesting double standard that Taurasi seemed to call out in an interview, per Chantel Jennings.

"Especially in women's sports, in women's professions, only a woman would have 20 years of experience and it's an Achilles heel, instead of something that is treasured and used as a way forward for our sport and for women," Taurasi said.

Both Taurasi and James have played in their leagues for 20+ years. For the most part, they're still considered one of the best players in their leagues.

James' selection to the Olympic roster was never questioned by NBA fans, though. He was even made the flag-bearer for the US contingent!

Meanwhile, Taurasi became the target of criticism after her selection. Many argued that Caitlin Clark or Arike Ogunbowale deserved a spot over the Mercury star. The main reason? Her age, apparently.

Taurasi brings a level of leadership and seniority to the women's national team similar to LeBron. On the court, she's still a fantastic facilitator who's familiar with most of her teammates. Her selection shouldn't have been questioned... and yet, here we are.
