The New York Jets have apparently seen enough in their first two days of training camp to know that a move needed to be made.

On Saturday morning, it was announced that the team would be cutting ties with quarterback Ben Bryant going forward and signing former Kansas State standout Adrian Martinez.

It's not a groundbreaking move, but definitely one that could impact the depth chart in the future.

Ben Bryant was a college veteran, spending six seasons at the NCAA level, the last of which came with the Northwestern Wildcats. After going undrafted in 2024, he signed with the Jets this offseason.

In contrast, Martinez spent five years at the college level, playing for Nebraska and most recently, Kansas State. He signed with the Detroit Lions after going undrafted in 2023, but then spent the year playing in the United Football League with the Birmingham Stallions. He won the UFL League MVP award and the UFL Championship MVP award during his one season.

With the Jets, Martinez will battle for the No. 3 quarterback spot with former Wyoming QB Andrew Peasley. New York also drafted Florida State's Jordan Travis, who is still recovering from a gruesome leg injury at the end of the 2023 college season.
