    The month of August makes its debut, encouraging more sunscreen

    WICHITA FALLS ( KFDX/KJTL ) — A weak ridge of high pressure remains just overhead and to the east while a trough of low pressure is just to our west over the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles in the southern plains. Isolated showers and possibly a thunderstorm or two cannot be completely ruled out for western counties as we head into late Saturday afternoon and evening.

    For the next seven to ten days, the general rule will be hot and dry. Triple digit heat is expected to end July and begin August. Heat index values and the likelihood of heat advisories being issued this coming week will be concerns.
