BISMARCK, N.D. ( KXNET) — There have been reports of men following women around Walmart in Bottineau County.

According to the Bottineau Sheriff’s Office, there have been reports of men stalking female customers around Walmart.

While the Sheriff’s Office was called, and the situation was handled, the Sheriff’s Office is encouraging people to contact authorities if they feel like they’re being followed or if they feel unsafe.

According to the Office on Violence Against Women, one in three women and one in six men will face stalking in their lifetimes. And the Bureau of Justice Statistics states that in 2019, less than a third of all stalking victims reported the incident to the police.

If you believe you’ve been a victim of stalking or are currently in a situation that makes you feel unsafe, call 911. If you live in Bottineau County, and it’s a non-emergency situation, call 701-228-2740.
