    Two displaced, dog dead after Chesterfield house fire

    CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Two people are displaced and a dog is dead after a fire burned inside of a home in Chesterfield County.

    Just after 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, Chesterfield Fire and EMS responded to a call for a house fire in the 5500 block of Upp Street.

    According to officials , the first firefighters that arrived on scene found smoke coming out of the front door and a fire inside of the home. They were able to get the fire under control in less than 20 minutes.

    A person was transported to the hospital to be treated for burns that were not considered to be life-threatening. According to officials, a dog died in the fire.

    The Red Cross is assisting two people that are displaced. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
