Liverpool unlikely to see Rasmus Hojlund or Leny Yoro after Man Utd update

With little time left before Liverpool faces Manchester United in a U.S. preseason tour showdown, it appears likely the Reds will not see their Premier League rival at full strength on Aug. 3.

Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund, when questioned about the severity of his injury that saw him substituted after just 16 minutes against Arsenal this weekend, simply responded with "We'll see." He'd worryingly walked straight down the tunnel.

Hojlund, who had put United ahead in the 10th minute of their first pre-season tour friendly, was forced to leave the pitch in the 13th minute due to what appeared to be a muscle injury.

Despite this, the 21 year old was seen walking unaided down the tunnel and later strolling through the mixed zone following United's 2-1 defeat at SoFi Stadium.

New signing Leny Yoro - a reported transfer target of Liverpool's before he signed on to play at Old Trafford - also had to be substituted before half-time, looking visibly upset. The 18-year-old center-back was replaced by Rhys Bennett in the 34th minute and was the first player to leave the dressing room.

United's manager Erik ten Hag, during his pre-match press conference, warned that the squad would likely face more injury issues, following a season where it recorded 66 separate instances of injury or illness causing a player to miss a match.

"Of course it is too short," Ten Hag commented on the injuries, "and we have to wait over 24 hours, then we will hopefully know more."

"We were careful especially with Leny as he only did 50 percent of the training sessions. He has to come up but let's be positive and see what comes out."

Ten Hag expressed his satisfaction with Rasmus Hojlund's performance, particularly his first goal as a starter for United since February. "We scored a very good goal, a very good ball in behind from [Marcus] Rashford and then Hojlund with a very good move and a finish, I was very pleased. We also created some more good chances and we then conceded the goal which was offside.

"In such occasions he (Hojlund) is very strong and he is a threat for every defense and he has scoring abilities."
