    On Monday, the quest for an eighth consecutive Olympic gold medal starts for the U.S. women's basketball.

    Led by Brittney Griner, A'Ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart and other WNBA stars, the USA will take on Japan to open the 2024 Paris Olympics. The United States have dominated the Olympics with a 72-3 record and seven straight gold medals.

    The last loss for the U.S. came during the 1992 Olympics.

    Diana Taurasi is making her sixth Olympic appearance for the U.S., while Sabrina Ionescu and Kelsey Plum are among the players set to debut in five-on-five action. One notable omission from Team USA is Indiana Fever and No. 1 pick in the WNBA Draft, Caitlin Clark .

    The WNBA season is at its halfway mark, meaning the women should be in good form ahead of the 2024 Olympics with a shot at showing off their dominance.

    USA Network will broadcast the United States Women's Basketball team's Group C opener against Japan to open the 2024 Paris Olympics. The game will be simulcast in Spanish on Universo.
