After LeBron James served as the USA's flag bearer alongside Coco Gauff during the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony, fans were quick to call the Los Angeles Lakers star "Captain LeMerica" and "LeCaptain America." Now, USA Basketball itself has made the final decision on the nickname for the superstar forward.

Following the team's win over Serbia in its Olympics opener on Sunday, Team USA shared a photo of James looking hyped during the game. USA basketball then proceeded to caption it, "Captain LeMerica," showing their approval of the comic book-inspired label.

It's definitely a fitting nickname for James, especially with the way he's leading Team USA even before the Olympics had started.

In their 110-84 win over Serbia, LeBron James was sensational as he finished with 21 points, seven rebounds and nine assists. He may be 39 years old already, but he didn't play like it in the showdown with reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic and his Serbian crew.
