Adidas dropped a new commercial for Anthony Edwards featuring his best friend and former high school teammate Nick Maddox. The ad censored the names of several players, including Nikola Jokic, Victor Wembanyama, and Giannis Antetkounmpo, but Maddox claimed none of them could slow Ant down.

Interviewer: "Who's stopping Ant? Nikola Jokic?"

    Maddox: "Hell no."

    Interviewer:
    "Shai Gilgeous-Alexander?"

    Maddox:
    "No."

    Interviewer: "Rudy Fernandez?"

    Maddox:
    "Retire!"

    Interviewer:
    "Josh Giddy?"

    Maddox:
"Don't know who that is. 2K player."

    Interviewer: "
    Victor Wembanyama?"

    Maddox: "
    (Laughs) You for real? No."

    Interviewer: "
    Nicolas Batum?"

    Maddox:
    "He too old."

    Interviewer: "Giannis Antetokounmpo?"

Maddox: "He ain't coming out past the free throw line. Out there it's going to look like a highway in the middle of the night. Ain't nobody out there. Him and the rim. Y'all got that? Him and the rim. Believe that."

Maddox clearly believes in his best friend but is also having fun at other players' expense. It is unlikely that these comments from Maddox are going to cause any beef between Edwards and the players mentioned in the video, as it was just some lighthearted promotion for Edwards as the new young face of Adidas basketball.

Edwards made a commercial with Adidas a few months ago where he responded to several of his critics, including Carmelo Anthony and rapper Cam'ron. Cam'ron felt highly offended by Edwards' comments and made a freestyle diss aimed at Edwards while wearing a Luka Doncic jersey - Edwards' opponent at the time in the Western Conference Finals.

Adidas is certainly doing a good job in their promotion of Edwards, as they have made ads that are sure to get fans and even other players talking about the Timberwolves superstar. And that is the goal from their end while promoting their new young ambassador.

Anthony Edwards Primed To Become The Face Of The NBA

There have been many fans and analysts who have wondered out loud which young player should be the face of the NBA once players like LeBron James inevitably walk away from the game. Edwards' incredible game combined with his electric personality make him a prime candidate to take that role.

Edwards is coming off an incredible season with the Timberwolves. He averaged 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.1 assists, as he led the Timberwolves to the third seed and helped them reach the Western Conference Finals for the first time in 20 years. Edwards has shown that he is the leader of the franchise.

With Team USA, Edwards has the chance to win his first Olympic gold medal. He claimed that he was the number one option on Team USA, but hasn't secured a starting spot for himself as of yet. In Team USA's opener against Serbia, Edwards came off the bench, putting up 11 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 block.

Edwards has cemented himself as one of the best young players in the league today. And in the years to come, he will continue to rise and show people why many believe he is the future of the NBA.
