One of the most notable Team USA athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games is Sha'Carri Richardson , the fastest woman in the world. Richardson has made it clear that she is not just back but better than ever.

Richardson will be making her Olympic debut in Paris after missing Tokyo 2020 due to testing positive for cannabis, a substance banned under the rules of the World Anti-Doping Agency. The Dallas native served her one-month suspension and returned for the 2022 World Championship, where she didn't perform well. However, she made a strong comeback at the 2023 World Championship in Hungary, impressing everyone with her performance.

In Hungary, Richardson won gold in the women's 100m, setting a new Championship record at 10.56, and the 4x100m U.S. team. She also took home bronze for the 200m.

Here's what to know about Richardson's upcoming Olympics debut.

Sha'Carri Richardson is headed to the 2024 Paris Olympics after winning the 100 meters with a time of 10.71 seconds at the Olympic trials in June 2024.

    Sha'Carri Richardson style

Sha'Carri Richardson is known for her unique colorful hair and signature long nails, embodying her unapologetic style.

“I’m not gonna change the confidence that I have in myself ever. But at the same time, I have learned there is a way that I can carry that so much more gracefully. That’s where that moment came from,” Richardson told Vogue in an interview.

    Where is Sha'Carri Richardson from?

Sha'Carri Richardson hails from Dallas, Texas and was raised by her grandmother, Betty Harp, and her aunt. Richardson's journey to success began in 2018, she embarked on her academic and athletic journey at Louisiana State University, where she quickly rose to prominence in track and field.

In 2019, Sha'Carri Richardson, a young talent, made headlines by breaking the world under-20 records in the 100m and the 200m at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships. After a successful year at LSU, Richardson made a bold decision to sign a professional contract, forgoing her collegiate eligibility. She is currently sponsored by Nike and trains with former Olympic sprinter Dennis Mitchell.

    Sha'Carri Richardson's fastest times

Richardson's fastest 100-meter sprint time in any conditions was 10.57 seconds, achieved at the Miramar Invitational in Florida last year. This time, although the fourth-fastest in the event under any conditions, does not count as a record due to the +4.1 m/s tailwind that assisted it. According to regulations, only a maximum assistance of +2.0 m/s can count as a record.

Her official personal best is 10.65 seconds, which she achieved during the 2023 World Championships to secure the gold medal despite facing a -0.2 m/s headwind. This time stands as both a personal and championship record.

Richarson will not be participating in the 200-meter sprint at the 2024 Olympics, but she equaled her personal best time of 21.92 seconds at the Olympic trials last month. Additionally, she clocked a time of 21.61 seconds, with a wind assistance of +2.6 m/s, at last year's USA Track and Field Championships.
