And it’s time! Here is what we know, predict, and want to watch this 2024 NFL Season!
- The 2024 season, the 105th in NFL history, kicks off Thursday, Sept. 5, with the Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Baltimore Ravens. An AFC Playoff Preview.
- The Chiefs and the 49ers are the choice to win the Super Bowl this year.
- Patrick Mahomes is the favorite to win MVP for a third time.
- There are 5 International Games this year.
- Netflix joins CBS, Fox, NBC, ESPN, NFL Network and Prime Video as an exclusive provider. Netflix will have the 2 Christmas Day games.
- 8 Coaches will make their 2024 debuts this season. Jim Harbaugh will be the most watched with the Chargers and Brian Callahan with the Tennessee Titans.
- Ok, bear with me: Kirk Cousins is a Falcon, Russel Wilson and Justin Fields are both Steelers, Saquon Barkley is an Eagle, Josh Jacobs is a Packer, Aaron Jones is a Viking, Derrick Henry is a Raven, Austin Eckler is a Commander, Tony Pollard is a Titan, Hollywood Brown is a Chief, Calvin Ridley is a Titan, Mike Williams is a Jet, Keenan Allen is a Bear, L’jarius Sneed is a Titan, Stefon Diggs is a Texan, Joe Mixon is a Texan, . Those are the notable veteran moves this year.
- Then there are the rookies, Caleb Williams will start for the Bears and Jayden Daniels will start for the Commanders. 6 QBs were taken in the first 12 picks. the other 4 we will see.
- 3 teams we are watching as dark horses: Lions, Jets ( with Aaron Rogers), Ravens.
- Can the Texans build off last season? It will be more difficult with the return of Anthony Richardson under center at Indy. But, the real question mark in this division will be a Callahan led Titans with a young QB and a ton of weapons and a revamped secondary.
- 3 Games we want to see: Jets at 49ers , First Monday Night game September 9th; Chiefs at 49ers November 20th; Ravens at Chargers in the Harbaugh Bowl as brother takes on brother.
- Kick returns will feature a revised set of rules as part of a one-year trial. The rules prohibit everyone on the kicking team (except the kicker) from moving until the ball contacts or is fielded within a designated “landing zone,” between the receiving team’s 20-yard line and goal line. Receiving teams are permitted to place up to two returners in the zone, and returners are unable to utilize a fair catch, as they could’ve in 2023. If a kick doesn’t reach the zone, the ball will be placed at the 40-yard line. If it goes out of — or is downed inside — the end zone, the ball will go to the 35. And if it hits the zone, rolls into the end zone and is downed, it’ll go to the 20. Any ball fielded in the zone, meanwhile, has to be returned.
- Prediction #1 : The NFC North will be the tightest race in the NFC.
- Prediction #2 : The Cowboys will struggle to make the playoffs and this will be Dak’s last year in Dallas.
- Prediciton #3 : The Ravens will win the AFC, dashing the hopes of the Chiefs to make history with 3 straight wins.
