Goldendoodle 'Tries to Join' the Olympics After Seeing Equestrian Event on TV

The Olympics really bring out two types of people in the world: those who look at them and think, "I could do that," and those of us who sink a little deeper into the couch and watch through our fingers. Those gymnastics events in particular are just wild!

For one Goldendoodle, he thought the Olympics looked easy as pie. All it took was one look at an equestrian event for him to decide he needed to "give it a try," and on Sunday, July 28th, he posted the video:

I love that Abby , his mom, is supporting his dreams. Unfortunately, he is not a horse, but I think he could fool them.

Unfortunately, this pup doesn't have much of a presence on his mom's TikTok page, though I am hoping we eventually get to see some more of him. I'd love to know his name, but for now, knowing that he's a horse at heart is enough.

Most likely, he genuinely doesn't see a difference between himself and the horse. On TV, you can't really see the massive difference in size; they look pretty dog-like! As far as he's concerned, he fully believes that he and the horse are the same... because they are. Goldendoodles are pretty horse-like!

Are There Dog Events in the Olympics?

So, we've got horses at the Olympics, and dogs who think they're horses watching the Olympics, but what about dogs in the Olympics?

There have been several spoofs of the Olympics that revolve around dogs, including one called the Doglympics, where dogs compete in dog-friendly sports for medals. However, there are no actual dog events: it's like the Puppy Bowl. While adorable, it's more for those of us who don't care much for sports to have something cute to watch.

There have been a few Olympic Games where they included dog-sledding as a sport, but not since 1994, and it never became an official event. Most likely, the logistics of making sure dogs are trained and competed ethically were just too much, especially for such a heavily televised event. Other than sledding, dogs have never been in any of the Olympic events.

The Olympics themselves are also not considered "dog-friendly." Service dogs are welcome, of course, but you'll have to leave your pups at home if you'd like to go watch the Games. It's for the best: look at this boy. He'd jump into the field and start horsing around!
