There is a lot of hope and hype around the 2024 New York Jets. Aaron Rodgers is back and so far in camp, it looks like he hasn’t lost anything after his Achilles injury and advanced age. The weapons around him are better with the addition of Mike Williams who is on track to be ready for the season. Breece Hall doesn’t have any of the injury questions he had going into last year and the newly built offensive line has the potential to be one of the best in the NFL.

As for the defense, they are locked and loaded to be even more dominant than they were last year, considering they shouldn’t have all the pressure on them to carry the team.

There’s just one little fly in the ointment. One little dark cloud hovering over the team. Newly acquired Haason Reddick is still holding out after getting traded from the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this off season. The Jets even placed the pass rusher on the reserve/did not report list .

But according to a recent report, there may be a light at the end of this hold out tunnel. According to veteran NFL reporter Josina Anderson, there has been some progress made in contract talks between the Jets and Reddick.

If the Jets can get Reddick into camp soon, that will end the drama surrounding the team for the time being. The Jets will get a dominant pass rushing force that they haven’t had in almost a decade on the outside.

It would make sense if Reddick showed up soon, as he is racking up $50K-per-day fines for not being at Jets camp. When asked about that reported development Saturday, head coach Robert Saleh said, “Until he’s here, he’s not. But that’s good to hear, though.”

    Negotiating in Bad Faith?

I have often stated that I am all for players getting their money when they can, but there is also a line where it becomes ridiculous, and I think Reddick crossed that line . According to SNY’s Connor Hughes, Reddick lied to the Jets and essentially is trying to hold them hostage in order to get the contract he wants.

If Hughes’ report is accurate, then Reddick has nobody to blame for the situation he currently finds himself in than himself. I wouldn’t negotiate with a player or agent who doesn’t do so in good faith if I was Jets’ GM Joe Douglas. If Reddick was upfront early about his unwillingness to play under what the Jets were offering, then the blame falls squarely on Joe Douglas’ shoulders.

Either way, someone’s reputation is going to be tarnished when the dust settles on this saga.
