It's safe to say that Dawn Staley's hardest rooting interest in the WNBA aligns with players she coached at South Carolina.

Breanna Stewart isn't among them, but Staley–who also coached Team USA at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics—went out of her way to fete the former Connecticut and current New York Liberty star during the Americans' opening game in Paris anyway.

As Stewart matched Las Vegas Aces counterpart and former Gamecock A'ja Wilson with 17 first-half points on Monday against Japan, Staley celebrated her dominant performance with a simple two-word message on Twitter.

"Too good!" she wrote," tagging Stewart in the post.

Stewart took home Olympic gold next to Staley, Wilson and other American women's basketball stars in 2021. She enters the 2024 Olympics alongside Wilson as one of Team USA's two best players, vying for her third gold medal after also winning with the United States at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

New York, meanwhile, is once again a top-tier title contender in the WNBA this season. The Liberty entered the Olympic break atop the league standings at 21-4, hoping to avenge their loss to Wilson and the Las Vegas Aces in a prospective rematch of the WNBA Finals.

Stewart and Team USA are back in Olympic action on Thursday against Belgium.
