As the Los Angeles Rams 2024 training camp unfolds at Loyola Marymount University, the competition among the wide receivers has been one of the most intense and closely watched battles. The Rams’ roster features a mix of established veterans and promising newcomers, all vying for a spot on the final 53-man roster.
Los Angeles Rams First-Team Highlights
Veteran wide receiver Demarcus Robinson has been a standout performer, working with the first team. Robinson’s experience and reliable hands have made him a favorite target during the past season leading to a second contract with the team. His ability to create separation will be key in landing him a starting role this season.
Impressive Performances
Tyler Johnson has also made a significant impression during camp, highlighted by a touchdown catch in 7 on 7s. Johnson, who joined the Rams after stints with the Buccaneers and Texans, is showcasing his potential to be a valuable asset in the receiving corps.

Among the second-team receivers, Tutu Atwell , Jordan Whittington, and Xavier Smith have been competing for a rotating spot. Out of the players competing for the 4th primary spot, Atwell made it clear that he was Stafford’s favorite target out of the three in scrimmages.
Smith has experience at punt and kick returning which could bode well for his future with the team. He was noted by scouting reports as being a gadget player who can catch the ball from anywhere, which is a good fit for this offense.
Atwell was notably cited as a possible kick returner this season. It’s a pivotal year for him as he seeks to secure a long-term role on the team.
Whittington has shown versatility on offense and was frequently targeted on deep ball s . I noticed his aggressiveness to catch the ball which was one of his strengths during his college career. He’s put in extra work before and after practice trying to fight for a roster spot.
With each passing practice, the wide receiver battle becomes more close. The way the roster shakes out it’ll likely mean 3 or 4 players will be the odd men out as 7 wide receivers got snaps for the Los Angeles Rams last season.
