Blue Jays pitcher Yariel Rodriguez delivered a 94 mph fastball that hit McCann square on the nose, causing him to gush blood.

While trainers were tending to McCann it could clearly be seen that his nose was broken.

“Gosh you can see the nose that is not bent the right way there,” the TV announcer said.

It seemed guaranteed that McCann would be forced to leave the game due to his broken nose and profuse bleeding, but McCann showed how tough he was by refusing to leave.

Orioles trainers plugged up his nose to stop the bleeding and McCann continued playing in the game and even got his catchers gear back on in the next inning.

Rodriguez was taken out of the game after the incident as he was clearly rattled by hitting Mccann in the face.

Fans were baffled by McCann’s toughness and went wild on social media.

“That’s crazy! dude’s a beast,” one fan said.

“The man can’t even breathe and he’s going to run the bases,” another fan said.

“Rub some dirt on it. In all seriousness, that was some pretty intense stuff for him to stay in the game,” a third fan said.

“Hate to see that pitch. Love to see that grit,” a fourth fan said.

McCann came up to bat again in the third inning of the game and got a huge round of applause from fans for remaining in the game.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde described the injury after the game and how tough he thinks McCann is.

“That was a scary scene. It just shows you how tough that guy is,” Hyde said.

“He was obviously dazed and the blood wasn’t stopping.

“We’re suspecting he has a broken nose. All signs right now are he dodged a major bullet.”

It is possible that McCann will need surgery to repair the broken nose, but likely won’t miss major time if he doesn’t have a concussion or any other issues.

One of McCann’s teammates gave him a message of support on social media after the game.

“I would go to war every single day for James McCann. But after seeing that, I am convinced that I would [be] absolutely useless to him,” pitcher Tyler Wells wrote.

“That’s the toughest SOB I’ve ever met.”
