Mohamed Salah sending quiet Arne Slot message that says everything about Liverpool task

Last summer, Liverpool had no interest in entertaining a $193m (£150m/€178m) bid for Mohamed Salah from Saudi Arabia. A year on, the Reds will not be losing their talisman either .

It is telling that even with under 12 months remaining on his Liverpool contract, there have not even been whispers that a Saudi Pro League side could attempt to test the Reds' resolve. It isn't even a question that could be placed on the table as things stand.

Heading into Arne Slot's first season in charge, Liverpool has contract questions about Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk , but each of the trio will be at the club when the Premier League returns. Negotiations will need to take place relatively swiftly with their representatives but there is no suggestion that any wants out.

Only Salah is back in pre-season training so far, however, with his international commitments this summer having been far less strenuous than most of his club teammates. And the Egyptian has returned in excellent shape.

Sharing pictures of himself in the gym in the lead-up to returning to Liverpool after his summer break, Salah's physique is showing no signs of declining. He might have turned 32 last month, but Salah appears to be following the Cristiano Ronaldo pathway to playing well into his 30s.

In training and matches, too, Salah has looked sharp. He was banging in goals left, right and center during the open session that was held at the Lincoln Financial Field stadium in Philadelphia over the weekend. Having spent some time getting over an injury in the second half of last season, this is a forward who looks refreshed and raring to go.

Even with his significant wages, it looks like a no-brainer to extend Salah's current deal. It surely must be a priority for the Liverpool hierarchy to tie down its most potent attacking threat. You would, after all, be making a bold step to put money on anyone other than Salah being the Reds' top scorer next season — a title over which he has a stranglehold.

Salah famously doesn't do much in the way of public speaking. He is known for being someone who rarely says anything in mixed zones and he isn't often put forward for press conferences either.

What he has always done, though, is do his talking on the pitch. So far this summer, it appears that is still the case. And for Liverpool, that can only mean one thing: the urgency to get a new deal agreed with his representatives remains.
