Tuesday will feature three finals, including the first relay final with the men's 4x200-meter freestyle to wrap up the day. The world record in the relay has withstood time, having been broken last in 2009 by Team USA.
The women's 100-meter backstroke final is led by world record holder Regan Smith of the United States. She set the world record with a 57.13 finish at the U.S. Olympic swimming trials in June 2024.
Smith will face Australia's Kaylee McKeown in what could be the top race of the Olympics thus far. McKeown previously held the world record before Smith reclaimed her crown in June.
USA's Bobby Finke looks to defend his gold medal in the men's 800-meter freestyle on Tuesday. He won the race during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and will receive heavy competition from Italy's Gregorio Paltrinieri once again. Paltrinieri finished second in 2021.
