Trent Alexander-Arnold has been slammed over his decision to sign a Real Madrid shirt amid the Spanish giants' interest in signing him this summer.

The Liverpool right-back has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Anfield and is yet to put pen to paper on a fresh new deal to remain with the club, with fears beginning to seep in that the La Liga champions could swoop in and secure a cut-price deal.

And while discussions continue over Alexander-Arnold's future on Merseyside, Liverpool insists it remains calm over the current situation and is happy to wait for the 25-year-old to return from his extended summer holiday before resolving his future.

The England international has been spotted enjoying some time away in the United States with Three Lions teammate Jude Bellingham , which has already caused a stir among Liverpool fans due to the club connections of the Real Madrid starlet.

But Alexander-Arnold certainly landed himself in even more hot water after he was spotted signing a Real Madrid shirt for a young fan while out in Miami, adding even more fuel to the fire with regards to a departure from Anfield this summer.

And the Liverpudlian has since been slammed for his actions whilst on holiday, with former Premier League midfielder Jamie O'Hara branding it "poor", claiming that the Merseyside giants will soon lose their star man because "he will be out of Liverpool" and donning Real Madrid colors.

Speaking live on air, the talkSPORT host said: “Bellingham and Trent out in Miami, living their best life. I saw him sign a Real Madrid shirt the other day.

"That’s poor, that. I am not having that. You can’t be having that. You can’t be signing Real Madrid shirts as a Liverpool player. Nah. I am not having that. I think he will be out of Liverpool. I think he will go to Real Madrid.”

Admittedly, signing the Real Madrid shirt was a bold move by Alexander-Arnold given all the recent speculation linking him with a move to the La Liga champions either this summer or in 12 months time when his contract runs out.

However, images showed it was for a young boy, so the defender was just most likely doing a good deed and making a fans' day, rather than doing it for any malicious reason. Alexander-Arnold is Liverpool through and through and it will be no surprise to see him commit his long-term future to the club in the next week or two.
