At least that’s what Simone Biles’ mom, Nellie, though when she reflected on meeting the Doggystyle emcee back in 2010.
When talking with Today Show host Hoda Kotb alongside Biles’ family, she revealed that Snoop and the Biles’ have a lengthy history . “Snoop, I don’t know if you know this, but Simone and you have known each other for a long time. Right, Nellie?” Kotb teased.
Confused, the Long Beach native asked, “How? How Nellie?”
She jokingly sized Snoop up when he first interjected into the conversation and moments later, Nellie told the story.
“I remember; I will never forget that I met you in Times Square in 2010. And you said—’cause we asked for a picture—two minutes. One, two, and you were gone,” said the mother of three.
The two laughed it off, but it’s safe to assume that they finally got their picture together.
During Sunday’s qualifier, Simone injured her calf , but had no intention to withdraw from the competition. Nellie was admittedly “worried” when the incident occurred, but was reassured on Monday (July 29) after Simone’s sister, Adria, and husband, Jonathan , both called her to ease her fears.
When speaking on seeing Simone participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics , she told USA Today , “I’m very proud as a mother to watch her and see her enjoying what she’s doing. It’s different. Every time I watch her compete. It all depends on where she’s at mentally, and now I could tell that she’s in a very good place and she’s enjoying it. And you know, it is so good to see. It is so good to see.”
Her father Ron, added, “I just want to see her just be happy, man, succeed, and we’ve got no expectations as a family. Not putting anything on her but just want her to feel comfortable, confident, fulfilled when it’s all complete and done. Just really just see her in her element. She’s worked so hard to get back, gone through a lot and I’m just so happy just to see her in Paris.”
