Train Collides with Pickup Truck, Injuring 3

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a pickup truck and train wreck.

The incident happened Tuesday morning, July 30, at the Eighth Street and Railroad Avenue crossover in Lula on the Banks County side.

According to authorities, a Chevy Silverado 2500 HD was on the train tracks when the train hit it. It is uncertain if the truck was disabled or why it was sitting on the tracks.

Officials tell Now Habersham that three people have been injured and transported to the hospital. The injuries are non-life-threatening. Authorities have not released any names.

Banks County emergency personnel responded to the scene early Tuesday, July 30, at 7:14 a.m. and requested mutual aid from Hall County.

Norfolk Southern Railroad and the Georgia State Patrol's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) are investigating the accident.
