In a viral video posted to Instagram by Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW), two mountain goats climb onto a Subaru and start to jump around, showing off a concern that few American drivers outside of Colorado might have to deal with.

According to the post, mountain goats' hooves help them to climb up cliffs, steep slopes, and even cars. Their hooves have a hard outer rim and a soft rubbery bottom that acts like a suction cup.

Mountain goats live in high mountain ranges, usually staying above tree line, except in severe winter weather, according to CPW . Although they're not usually dangerous, mountain goats will sometimes approach people, and in this case, jump on their cars.

According to the U.S. Forest Service , the animals crave the salts found in human sweat and urine. With that in mind, the USFS recommends that you never feed mountain goats, and stay at least 50 yards away from them. You should also urinate on rocks, bare soil, or snow at least 50 yards from the trail, and not leave clothes or gear unattended. Slowly move away if a goat does approach you. If it continues, scare it off by yelling, waving your arms or clothing, or throwing rocks. Getting rammed by an aggressive mountain goat can cause serious injury or death.
