A top player from the 2024 NFL draft announced on Instagram Tuesday that he is boycotting Madden NFL 25.

Kansas City Chiefs first-round pick and rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy made headlines with his decision, revealing his dissatisfaction with the game’s speed rating for him.

“Finna boycott the game,” Worthy posted on Instagram, clearly frustrated with EA Sports' decision.

EA Sports awarded Worthy a 98 speed rating, which many players would appreciate. However, Worthy believes it doesn’t reflect his true capabilities.

Worthy set the record for the fastest forty-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Combine, clocking an impressive 4.21 seconds. Given this feat, he feels a 99 speed rating—the highest possible—would have been more appropriate.

While game speed ratings and NFL Combine results don't always align perfectly, Worthy's frustration is understandable.

His exceptional speed was evident throughout his college career at the University of Texas, where he excelled as both a wide receiver and a punt returner.

His explosive performance earned him spots on the AP All-Big 12 First Team as a wideout and an all-purpose player.

With the new NFL season approaching, Worthy will have plenty of opportunities to demonstrate why he believes he deserves that 99-speed rating.

Madden NFL 25 is set to release on Friday, August 16, and fans will be watching closely to see how the rookie’s real-life performance matches his virtual ratings.
