AEW star in limbo due to contract expiration

Daniel Garcia has been a workhorse for AEW. Since his time in the "Jericho Appreciation Society," the young and technical talent has been predicted to rise through the ranks. Questionable booking has sometimes stifled his development. However, for the most part, his path toward the top has been linear.

Unfortunately for Garcia and AEW, Tony Khan had to press the pause button on Garcia's current momentum. He is currently headed toward free agency . As such, Garcia was written off TV when MJF turned on him during a recent episode of "Dynamite."

During a recent episode of "Wrestling Observer Radio," Bryan Alvarez reported that Garcia will likely remain sidelined until he decides on his future.

“What I know is that when he did that angle they were aware that he might not be back, and so the angle was done in case he doesn’t come back," Alvarez said. "And if he does come back then they’ve got a storyline feud with MJF...I don’t think it’s 100% that he’s coming back but I don’t think that he has re-signed or decided to leave yet. But that was one of the reasons he was taken out in storyline.”

Having a ready-made storyline with one of the company's top talents will certainly be enticing. Garcia has earned some cache with the fan base and has been on course for a championship reign sooner or later. Nevertheless, the draw of WWE can't be ignored, especially when looking at the recent success of Ethan Page in NXT.

Garcia has a tough decision to make. He has earned his shot at a big run in AEW. Moving to WWE is far from a guaranteed success. Until he makes that decision, it's unlikely we will see him back on television and a potential storyline will be stuck in limbo.
