The Dallas Cowboys have removed cornerback Trevon Diggs from the PUP list and is now eligible to practice, via Jon Machota of The Athletic .

Diggs had been recovering from a torn ACL he suffered in practice after just two games last season.

The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was selected by the Cowboys in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Diggs played in 12 games during his rookie campaign, logging 58 tackles, a sack, three interceptions, a forced fumble and 14 passes defended.

The following year, Diggs established himself as one of the best defensive backs in football, racking up 52 tackles, 11 interceptions, 21 passes defended and a couple of defensive touchdowns en route to a Pro Bowl appearance and a First-Team All-Pro selection.

Diggs continued his dominance in 2022, finishing with 59 tackles, three picks, a fumble recovery and 14 passes defended, making his second trip to the Pro Bowl.

The Cowboys clearly missed Diggs last season, but still managed to boast one of the league’s best defenses even without him.

Now, with Diggs back in the fold, Dallas’ defense becomes that much scarier.

Trevon Diggs has already gotten paid

Unlike many of the other Cowboys stars searching for new deals, Diggs has already gotten paid.

Dallas signed the star cornerback to a five-year, $97 million contract extension in July 2023, ensuring that he will be patrolling the secondary for the foreseeable future.

While Diggs may not be the lockdown corner that Patrick Surtain II or Sauce Gardner is, he remains one of the best ball-hawking defenders in football.

Of course, it will be interesting to see how Diggs looks coming off such a major injury.

It’s very important for cornerbacks to maintain their quickness and reflexes, especially when they are defending No. 1 receivers.

Diggs is Dallas’ top cornerback, so he is always drawing the toughest assignment. If he has lost a step since his injury, it will be very visible come September.

Hopefully for the Cowboys, Diggs picks up right where he left off and forms one of the NFL’s best cornerback tandems along with DaRon Bland.

Bland himself rattled off a league-nine interceptions as well as an NFL record five defensive scores in 2023, earning a Pro Bowl appearance and First-Team All-Pro honors.
