Coco Gauff's net worth in 2024 is sky high—she's the highest-paid female athlete on the planet! It comes from a ton of hard work on and off the court, but Gauff says one of her superpowers is a sense of balance that came after years of striving for excellence in the sport to the partial detriment of other areas of her life.

"My grandmother, she's always like, 'There's more to life than this,'" Gauff recalled to The New York Times . "I can relax in these situations. It's just a tennis match. It's not the end of the world. There's so many people going through so many, like, uncomfortable situations. I mean, obviously being nervous is natural—but for me to think that winning a tennis match or losing a tennis match is the end of the world, I think just kind of shows what kind of privilege I have."

Born in Atlanta on March 13, 2004, Cori "Coco" Gauff began playing tennis when she was just 6 years old before moving with her family to Delray Beach, Florida, a year later to pursue further tennis training at the New Generation Tennis Academy.

Gauff's parents left their jobs to focus on her training. Her father, a former healthcare executive, became her coach, and her mother homeschooled her.

By the time Gauff was 10, she trained in France with Patrick Mouratoglou , who previously trained Serena Williams . In 2014, Gauff won the USTA Clay Court National 12-and-Under tournament when she was 10 years and three months old, becoming the youngest player in history to do so, per ESPN .

Gauff became the No. 1 junior tennis star in the world, and in 2017, became the youngest girls' singles finalist ever in the history of the U.S. Open. A year later, she won her first junior Grand Slam at the French Open and the junior doubles Grand Slam at the U.S. Open.

Gauff went pro in 2018 when she was just 14 years old, and at 15, upset none other than Venus Williams five times at Wimbledon. She competed in several more tournaments, including the U.S., Canadian, French, Miami, Italian and Australian Opens, for several years. She was selected to compete in the 2020 Olympics but had to withdraw after contracting COVID-19.

In August 2023, Gauff became the first teenager to win the Washington Open, and she followed a month later winning the U.S. Open—becoming the first teenager to win since Serena Williams in 1999.

In 2024, Gauff ranked No. 2 in the world in tennis singles and was chosen as a Team USA flag bearer for the Paris Olympics opening ceremonies with LeBron James .

"Coco partnering with us on Barilla ‘Serving Love’ is our latest opportunity to delight fans with our chickpea and red lentil pastas, which are a good source of protein, made with just one ingredient and zero additives," Barilla marketing director Angela Cotter told Little Black Book Online . "Because when love is pure, there's no need for extras—in other words, zero equals love, just like in tennis. Add in the fact that protein is a fundamental food for athletes, choosing Coco for the Serving Love campaign felt like a natural fit."
