NFL broadcasting icon and RedZone host Scott Hanson has delighted viewers of the Paris Olympics.

NBC and its streaming arm Peacock copied NFL Network ‘s winning formula with RedZone right down to Hanson behind the desk in its new offering: Gold Zone.

The show brings viewers the best highlights from around the Games with Hanson joined by Andrew Siciliano, Jac Collinsworth, Matt Iseman, and Akbar Gbajabiamila.

It has been a smash hit with fans, who took to social media to praise NBC.

“The Peacock coverage of the Olympics is unreal. Gold Zone is a revelation. Individual events are pretty easy to find, too. I’ve never been able to keep up with USA events this well. This has been a phenomenal experience,” one rave review read.

“We’re just 3 days in, but I’m ready to call #GoldZone one of the best streaming-exclusive sports shows I’ve ever seen,” added another.

“NBC getting Siciliano and Hanson to host Gold Zone was such a good call because you can tell this is an extremely hard skill to commentate, set the scene, go through highlights, react to live plays all at once, and these two are the most experienced at it,” a third commented.

“Peacock has finally hit its stride with Gold Zone, offering every Olympic sport, and significantly improving its interface. It’s setting a new model for streamers, one that doesn’t just buy sports rights, but actually creates a better viewing experience,” a fourth beamed.

“I’m pretty comfortable calling Gold Zone the best digital television product I’ve ever used. I have felt completely informed on every single sport for days straight. It is incredible,” a fifth contributed.

Hanson was so hyped while celebrating a USA Olympic medal two days ago that he injured himself.

He shared that his left hand was bloodied while in celebration of a Team USA medal during the broadcast.

“I was pounding the desk on Gold Zone when Team USA was winning a medal. I’m designated ‘likely’ to return,” he wrote on X , along with a photo of his pinkie with blood on it.

Hanson also showed off his blood-stained notes covering his desk.

He suffered the injury when United States men’s swimmer Luke Hobson took home the bronze medal in the 200-meter freestyle.

Hanson has been a host of NFL RedZone, a whip-around highlights show of the league’s games, since 2009.

Before the Olympics began, he opened up about the energy he intended to bring to the broadcast.

“I hope to deliver those same dopamine hits that we give to our ‘RedZone’ audience to the ‘Gold Zone’ audience,” Hanson told Indiewire .

NBC will provide blanket coverage of the 2024 Olympics across it's main channel, cable stations and Peacock streaming service.

One of the most intriguing new features will be Gold Zone from 7am-5pm ET every day during the Olympics.

The show will be adapted from the hugely popular NFL Red Zone , which airs on Sundays during the regular-season.

And Gold Zone will feature NFL Network hosts Scott Hanson and Andrew Siciliano as well as Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbajabiamila.

“The daily live show will guide fans through the excitement, triumphs, and emotion of the Games, scanning all the events that day to provide viewers with the most exhilarating moments and key races, routines, and finishes as they unfold live,” NBC Sports PR said.

“If I’m going from gymnastics to swimming, and doing whip-around coverage at ‘Gold Zone,’ it’s the same voice that you hear every NFL Sunday on ‘RedZone.’

“Hopefully it meshes well with with this particular Olympic audience.”

Hanson then admitted that providing help with Olympics coverage shows his knack for trying out new things.

“There must have been some carnival act in my family tree, like I have some type of a desire to be on a high wire on live TV and challenge myself in multitasking in new and exciting ways,” he told the outlet.

“The Olympics is all of that, and then some.”
