Kiyan Anthony , the son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony , is the number one ranked player out of New York for ESPN's high school basketball class of 2025. ESPN scouts believe Anthony is the best prospect out of the state, and the 40th-best recruit in the entire country , going into his senior year of high school.

ESPN has ranked him as a four-star recruit, ranking ninth in his position of shooting guard and seventh in the Eastern region. As of now, Anthony has not declared or committed to any college in the United States. Anthony reportedly has offers from Syracuse, Florida State, Ohio State, USC, and Rutgers for next year.

Playing at Syracuse would be poetic, as Kiyan's father Carmelo Anthony rose to national prominence during his stint at Syracuse.

Melo won the NCAA national championship with Syracuse, was named the Final Four MVP, and was selected to be a consensus second-team All-American. Anthony had his number 15 jersey retired by Syracuse for his legendary stint there.

Of course, Kiyan should make the decision that best suits him rather than feeling obligated to follow in his father's footsteps. At 6'5", Kiyan Anthony is a promising shooting guard, who can continue to grow in size and improve his offensive abilities in the years to come. This makes him an exciting prospect for any strong basketball program in the country.

At the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL), Anthony represented his father's AAU team and averaged 19.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. Going into his senior year, Anthony will be looking to show the basketball world exactly what he is capable of.

Can Kiyan Anthony Be Successful In The NBA?

Kiyan Anthony is aiming to enter the NBA, as his father did over 20 years ago. While he is one of the top recruits in the country, fans will be curious as to whether Anthony can be a success in the NBA. Kiyan himself will know about the weight of expectations that come with his last name.

Bronny James , the son of LeBron James , has been heavily scrutinized since entering the NBA. Many believe that the Lakers used the 55th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft to select Bronny as a way to appease LeBron James and get him to sign a new contract with them.

And while Bronny initially struggled in the NBA Summer League, he was finally able to get this rhythm and put on decent performances. James is expected to be a part of the Lakers' G-League team for most of the next season . Does the same fate await for Kiyan Anthony?

It might be too early to tell. The positive sign for Kiyan is that he has garnered a lot more buzz about his game than Bronny did at this stage of his young basketball career. If Anthony's development continues in the upward trajectory it has maintained over the last few years, then Kiyan could have a real chance of being a successful player in the NBA.

Only time will tell where Kiyan's future lies, but there is no doubt that he will be a name to watch out for over the next few years in the high school and collegiate basketball circuit.
