    Call Her Daddy

The question that has been burning in everyone’s mind since the release of “Tennessee Orange.”

If you are plugged in even the slightest to the country music community, you have probably heard the rumor that Megan Moroney was involved at one point with Morgan Wallen. After the release of her breakout single “Tennessee Orange,” internet sleuths quickly started connecting the dots from the song to the East Tennessee native.

Some users went deep on their dive, connecting that the shirt Moroney wears in the album art is the same shirt Wallen has sported on stage. Moroney has confirmed it was his shirt, which kept the rumor mill buzzing. Needless to say, the question of whether they were together at some point has been burning in everyone’s mind, but neither Moroney nor Wallen has confirmed or denied the rumors until now.

Megan Moroney sat down for a juicy interview with the Call Her Daddy podcast host, Alex Cooper, to talk about all things boys, music, life, and more. Man, up until the portion about Wallen, you see how Moroney can come up with her creative lyrics. The girl has been through it with her dating history. After Moroney details the guy who inspired “Sleep On My Side,” Cooper asks the burning question in viewers’ minds. Did she ever date Morgan Wallen?

    “Never exclusively.”

She replies before both she and Cooper burst into a fit of giggles. After joking about how the interview can wrap there, they dive into a little more and

“And I have so tried to avoid that in every single interview I’ve ever done. But we are here now, time has passed, and all is well still.”

Moroney still will not confirm nor deny if “Tennessee Orange” is about him because she will not associate names of her past with the singles. Stories, however… that’s fair game. Moroney then confesses that she doesn’t know if he has written any songs about her, although the internet speculates that “Lies, Lies, Lies” was inspired by their time together. Given that both Moroney and Wallen are massive country music stars, Cooper asks how they got together and kept it so private.

“It was never a relationship. Okay, here’s what I’ll tell you, though, because I have never told anyone this, ever. So, he and I met in 2020. John Langston actually introduced us. I was a senior in college; COVID hadn’t happened yet. His Dangerous album wasn’t even out yet. So we were friends for a long time; it’s what 2024, that was 2020. So, we were friends for a long time; we were not just friends, and now we’re friends.

Yeah, no, never officially dating. I will say anyone is overly sensitive and will get their heart broken; it’s me.”

The Moroney moved into how they kept it private, and she felt it was not difficult. She notes that Wallen is such a private person, and their schedules only lined up for them to hang out a day here and there, so it’s not like they had to sneak around in plain sight.

“Honestly, because he’s such a private person, I feel awkward talking about it.”

Cooper thanks Moroney for her honesty and answers a long-burning question, then quickly moves on to talking about Moroney being in her single-girl era. While I think the internet had a hunch that something occurred between these two, it’s always nice to have the confirmation you sought.

I wonder if Wallen will ever speak on this now that the information is public knowledge…or confirm if “Lies, Lies, Lies” is about Moroney.
