Bryson DeChambeau makes demand to PGA Tour despite LIV Golf ban - "I’m waiting for my invite"

Bryson DeChambeau has taken to social media, asking for an invite to compete in the PGA Tour's newly-announced nine hole tournament, the 'Creator Classic'.

Earlier this week the PGA Tour announced the formation of the Creator Classic which will be played the day before the Tour Championship at East Lake. Golf's most influential content creators have been offered a spot in the nine hole event that will take place before the 2024 season finale in Atlanta.

Amid the rapid rise of YouTube golf in recent years, the latest name to dominant the online scene has been DeChambeau, who has enjoyed a remarkable rise on the video site over the past 12 months

DeChambeau set the internet ablaze last week after partnering with former President Donald Trump. The course vlog alongside the Republican leader acquired 10 million views in just seven days, whilst the Crushers GC captain saw his subscriber count pass one million in the back of the video.

Just days later, the PGA Tour announced its creation of the Content Classic, but DeChambeau was of course left off the playing list. He playfully tweeted" "I'm waiting for my invite to the Creator Classic @PGATOUR," accompanied by a laughing emoji.

DeChambeau, along with several other high-profile golfers, switched to LIV Golf in 2022, resulting in the suspension of his PGA Tour membership. DeChambeau and his colleagues may soon find a way back to the American circuit, as the Tour is currently in talks with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) about resolving their dispute with LIV.

A year after the initial framework agreement was announced last June, the PGA Tour continues to negotiate with PIF. DeChambeau feels that a deal needs to be reached sooner rather than later to prevent golf fans from being alienated by the off-course politics.

"Well, there's multiple ways that you can solve this problem. I think that from a player's perspective, it needs to come back together for the fans, No. 1," he said earlier this year. "The fans are what drive this sport. If we don't have fans, we don't have golf. We are not up here entertaining."

"That's the most important thing as of right now, the low-hanging fruit. There's got to be a way to come together. How that comes together, that's above all of us out here. We can give input. We can have little moments where we say, hey, we think this would be a good idea or that would be a good idea, but - ultimately - it's up to the guys up top to figure it out and figure it out quickly because we can't keep going in this direction."
