Miami Dolphins’ Jaylen Waddle Earns Surprising Praise For 2024

Tyreek Hill tends to get most of the press in the Miami Dolphins‘ receiving corps, but the Dolphins have another wide out by the name of Jaylen Waddle who is pretty impressive in his own right.

Waddle landed a lucrative contract extension this offseason that will keep him in Miami through 2028, and with Waddle being five years younger than Hill, he could end up becoming the Dolphins’ No. 1 receiver sooner rather than later.

As a matter of fact, Jonathan Macri of Pro Football Focus thinks that Waddle stands a decent shot of establishing himself as a WR1 in Fantasy Football this year.

“Jaylen Waddle has shown he can overcome sharing targets with Tyreek Hill: Waddle has everything else going for him as a potential WR1 but has to stay healthy to make the most of his opportunities,” wrote Macri.

Waddle missed three games in 2023, but still managed to catch 72 passes for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns.

The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Alabama, was selected by Miami with the sixth overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft.

He enjoyed a terrific rookie campaign, snaring 104 balls for 1,015 yards and six scores. Waddle then exploded in 2022, hauling in 75 receptions for 1,356 yards and eight touchdowns as the Dolphins’ No. 2 receiver behind Hill. He averaged a league-best 18.1 yards per carry that season.

The Dolphins’ offense should be thrilling to watch in 2024

Miami boasted the NFL’s No. 1-ranked offense in 2023, and you have to figure that the Dolphins will be near the top of the league in that category again this coming season.

The ballclub is returning its lethal receiving duo of Hill and Waddle, and it just extended quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Plus, the Dolphins have one of the NFL’s most dynamic running back tandems of Raheem Mostert and De’Von Achane.

Miami’s offense did fade a bit down the stretch last year, and it does tend to struggle against some of the better defenses in the league.

However, there is no denying the Dolphins’ immense talent on the offensive side of the ball, and if they are going to make their third straight playoff appearance and win their first playoff game since January 2001, their offense will have to be top-tier again in 2024.

Jaylen Waddle will certainly play a major role in achieving that.
