Elizabeth Banks Reveals Scary Way She 'Almost Died' While Filming New Movie

Elizabeth Banks "almost died" while filming upcoming thriller, "Skincare," and got candid about the terrifying experience on Good Morning America on Tuesday (July 30).

The famed Hunger Games actress was alone in her trailer when she started choking on a "little green pea."

“I had my first ever choking incident." The 50-year-old standout revealed that she was "unable to make a noise" and was absolutely terrified.

"I threw the door open — couldn’t make any noise, was so afraid. It was terrifying.”

A crew member, known (and loved) as Julius , came across a struggling Banks and asked her if she was choking. Once confirmed, the helpful human proceeded to give the actress a "calm" Heimlich maneuver, ultimately saving her life.

"He had to do it twice. His name is Julius. He is my guardian angel. Julius, I love you." Since the startling incident, the Pitch Perfect icon has been newly inspired to use her platform to encourage others to learn how to do the Heimlich maneuver, as she might not be here today if it wasn't for Julius' proper execution of the life saving procedure.

"Make sure you know how to do it. Talk to your friends and family about it." While many are afraid to fully execute the maneuver due to the possibility of cracking a rib, Banks assured that a broken rib is minor compared to what might happen if someone continues to choke.

"They’re dying, so crack a rib if you have to. I would’ve been fine with a cracked rib. I literally couldn’t breathe, and it was super scary.”
