Eddie Van Halen was the co-founder and guitarist of Van Halen. He founded the band along with his brother Alex back in 1972. Eddie was first diagnosed with tongue cancer back in 2000. He underwent a surgery that removed a third of his tongue and was declared cancer-free in 2002. Later in 2019, Eddie was hospitalized after battling throat cancer over the previous five years. On October 6, 2020, his son Wolfgang Van Halen revealed that Eddie passed away.
