San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is entering a pivotal year in 2024, and tight end George Kittle already thinks the youngster is handling it very well.

“I feel like he’s just more comfortable with the offense,” Kittle said during an appearance on KNBR ( h/t David Bonilla of 49ers Webzone ). “He seems very comfortable with it, and he seems like he’s taking it and making it his offense. Just his confidence in the pocket, throwing the ball, telling guys, ‘Hey, you need to do this. You need to push your route depth here. Yeah, you need to run out of it.’”

Apparently, Purdy is exuding confidence in training camp.

“He just has this confidence, and he just has this, like, ‘This is my job.’ And it’s not something that — I want to say you’re always fighting for your job, but he’s like, ‘I’m making this job better. I’m getting better while I’m out here,'” added Kittle.

Purdy is entering his second full season as the 49ers’ starting quarterback.

Brock Purdy is aiming to prove his doubters wrong

Purdy’s NFL career has gotten off to a fantastic start.

The last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft was pressed into starting duty during is rookie campaign after season-ending injuries to Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo.

Purdy ended up going 5-0 in his regular-season starts and then took the 49ers all the way to the NFC Championship Game, where he injured his elbow after just four passes. San Francisco ultimately fell to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Then, last year, Purdy threw for 4,280 yards, 31 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 69.4 percent of his passes and posting a league-high passer rating of 113. He finished fourth in MVP voting.

Most importantly, the 24-year-old led the Niners to the Super Bowl, where they eventually lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime.

In spite of Purdy’s impressive early accomplishments, there are some who still feel he is nothing more than a game manager who is a product of Kyle Shanahan’s system.

We’ll see if Purdy can silence his critics with another strong performance and deep playoff run in 2024. George Kittle will definitely play a significant role in Brock Purdy’s quest for greatness, as the star pass-catcher is a five-time Pro Bowler and racked up 1,020 yards last season.
