Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he does not envision a return to coaching any time soon after it was purported that he snubbed an offer to manage the USMNT .

The charismatic German brought the curtain down on a storied nine years at Anfield at the end of the last Premier League campaign after nine years. In that period, he masterminded the club's resurgence as he oversaw an era of landmark success including ending the Reds' 30-year wait for a league title in 2020, alongside winning the Champions League in 2019.

The 57-year-old's stunned the sporting world by announcing his intentions to depart the role, as he remarked that he was "running out of energy." Now, Klopp has given his honest verdict on whether he sees Liverpool being his final coaching role, with this admission coming after he was linked with the U.S. vacancy after Gregg Berhalter's departure.

After it was widely reported that the legendary figure had snubbed the chance to take the reins as manager of the Stars and Stripes , he spoke candidly at the International Coaches' Congress in Wurzburg, Germany. Providing an insight into his current plans, he said: "As of today, that's it for me as a coach.

"I didn't quit on a whim, but it was a general decision. I've also coached the best clubs in the world," he continued, before refusing to fully rule out a stunning return to the touchline. "Maybe we can talk about it again in a few months. I still want to work in football and help people with my experience and contacts. Let's see what else there is for me."

A previous report from ESPN claimed that Klopp was planning to take a year-long sabbatical from the game as he looks towards the next chapter in his life. Going into more detail about whether he has been fielding approaches from clubs and national teams since he left Anfield, he also issued a firm denial.

Seemingly putting to bed any separate speculation that he could alternatively be lined up by England to replace Gareth Southgate as Three Lions boss, he said: "At the moment, there is nothing at all in terms of jobs. No club, no country.

"A few people must not have heard this part, and it would be the biggest loss of face in the history of football if I said, 'I'll make an exception for you now'."

Confirming that he is keeping an open mind about his next steps, he added: "I'm going to do some work. I'm too young to only do paddle tennis and grandchildren. Will that be coach again? I would actually rule that out at the moment. Let's see what it will look like in a few months, but nothing is coming through at the moment."
