New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson was seen having an altercation with quarterback Aaron Rodgers on the sideline at practice last week that really wasn’t much of an altercation at all.

Of course, the media took it and ran with it, immediately trying to identify it as a major problem for the Jets moving into the 2024 season.

It turned out to be much ado about nothing, as Rodgers was merely calming Wilson down from a spat with another teammate.

As a matter of fact, Wilson says he is really enjoying the conversations he is having with Rodgers throughout training camp.

“We’re getting better,” Wilson said, via SNY . “We’re gaining an understanding for each other and the way we go about things, the way we think — interpret the game. It’s truly enlightening for me every time we have convos like that despite how it may look.”

Wilson will be Rodgers’ No. 1 receiver in 2024 and managed to haul in 95 receptions for 1,042 yards and three touchdowns last season in spite of Rodgers being sidelined.

The 24-year-old added that Rodgers told him “it’s my job to be on my details.”

Garrett Wilson and the Jets could have something special

There are a whole lot of question marks surrounding the Jets heading into 2024, and understandably so.

After all, Rodgers is 40 years old and coming off of a torn Achilles, so no one really knows what to expect from the future Hall-of-Famer.

However, if things go according to plan, New York could be one of the best teams in the NFL and a genuine Super Bowl contender this year.

Wilson is entering his third NFL season and has already logged back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns to begin his career. And just think: he did that primarily with Zach Wilson throwing him the football.

The Jets also added weapons like Mike Williams and rookie Malachi Corley, and they beefed up their offensive line, to boot.

To put the cherry on top, New York should boast one of the best defenses in football this season, especially if and when the team gets things sorted out with new edge rusher Haason Reddick.

The Jets could absolutely be a special group to watch in 2024, and the connection between Rodgers and Wilson will be one of the most integral factors in making it happen.
