Former NFL Star Drops Brutal Truth Bomb On Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys will remain argued to be “America’s Team” as long as Jerry Jones is part of the organization. However, one former NFL star believes that the allure of playing for the squad is all but gone.

Speaking on FS1’s “ The Carton Show ,” former NFL star Amani Toomer did all he could to humble Dak Prescott’s general manager and his team.

“The Cowboys are nowhere close to getting a ring. Nobody cares about being on the Cowboys, everybody cares about getting the ring.”

Of course, Toomer’s comments might draw counterarguments. Many will ask how the Cowboys are not close to getting to and winning a Super Bowl if they won the division last season. A few players were added, but not many have left the squad.

By 2025, the franchise could see a massive exodus of talent. Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb technically could be gone. Micah Parsons could be looking for a way out, as well, especially if no deals were reached with Prescott and Lamb by that point.

However, this season, the Cowboys could be only a few games away from the Super Bowl as a floor, depending on how things go with their NFC East rivals.

That said, to Toomer’s point, Jones’ hesitancy to pay his stars is a turn-off to any prospective free agents. Sure, they might make plenty on their offered deals by Jones, but the next deal could be tortuous to obtain.

Dallas Cowboys future remains clouded in fog

Many blamed the Cowboys for not getting free-agent talent because they didn’t initiate. However, it is possible that they tried, but based on how slowly they’ve doled out cash to Lamb and Prescott, the players themselves opted to skip the organization.

Mike McCarthy’s status is also unknown. He is slated to coach the franchise in 2024 for a fifth consecutive year. That said, there is no guarantee of a sixth. If a player wants to join the organization but another coach could come and remove him, his contract might as well be written in pencil.

The Cowboys could be standing on the precipice of a remarkable reset. Prescott, Lamb, McCarthy and Parsons could all soon be gone.

Would Jones be willing to clean house to nip Toomer’s argument down to its studs?
