NFL analyst names Dolphins’ Mohamed Kamara “under-the-radar” rookie to watch

The Miami Dolphins come into the 2024 NFL season with a problem on defense. While they have a ton of talent on the offensive side, there’s a distinct lack of healthy talent on defense when it comes to their edge rushers. Both presumed starters – Bradley Chubb and Jaelan Phillips – will start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. So will reserve edge rusher Cameron Goode. Shaquil Barrett just recently retired from the team. The Dolphins desperately need someone to step up.

First-round pick Chop Robinson is going to be thrust into action for the Dolphins due to the injuries at the position, but it’s another rookie that one NFL analyst has his eyes on – Dolphins fifth-round pick Mohamed Kamara. Pro Football Network’s Dallas Robinson identified one “under-the-radar” rookie to watch for each team in the 2024 season. For the piece, Robinson defined this as any rookie drafted on Day 2 or Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft .

Kamara was expected to be somewhat of a project for the Dolphins after being drafted out of Colorado State. There’s a lot of athletic ability present with Kamara, but he’s still very raw as a pass rusher. However, with the dearth of talent Miami currently has at the position, Kamara may be thrust into action sooner than anyone may have initially thought. The 2024 season may wind up to be a ‘sink-or-swim’ type season for the rookie.

If he’s able to hold up well and can learn on the fly, the Dolphins could find themselves with a sudden wealth of skill at the position when both Phillips and Chubb return to the team. However, it could be a bumpy ride for the Dolphins pass rush until that point.
