Daniel Wiffen won gold for Ireland in a stunning victory, and he attributed his amazing achievement to his twin bother .

"I was dying in the last 20 metres and I'm not sure if you saw that because my arms were in so much pain," admitted Wiffen - who once had a cameo in Game of Thrones - after the victory.

"But I knew that the crowd was gonna carry me in and that's exactly what happened. The sight of the red light on the block signified everything."

Wiffen consistently acknowledges the pivotal role his twin brother Nathan plays , goading him when necessary, fuelling his competitive drive.

Nathan is more than a sibling; he is a lifelong sparring partner, confidant, roommate, and co-creator in their joint YouTube venture.

On the eve of the biggest race in his life, it was Nathan who played the crucial part in calmer pre-race nerves.

"The only voice I heard in the crowd was my twin brother Nathan's," Wiffen revealed. "That's what actually kept me level-headed when I walked out. It was just written in the stars."

Their shared YouTube channel, the Wiffen Twins, boasts close to 4,000 subscribers, featuring regular insights from their athletic journey to their staggering 8,000-calorie daily diets.

The siblings aren't strangers to the screen, with appearances in BBC children's shows and even a brief stint in Game of Thrones.

Nathan was there again last night, donning a green Team Wiffen T-shirt, cheering him on as Wiffen took the spotlight, no longer just child's play.

An emotional moment came for Wiffen as the medals were presented and his country's flag was hoisted high the sight even brought tears to his eyes. "I don't normally cry, so I was really hoping nobody was going to see that," the 23-year-old remarked. "But it did come out of me, and it's obviously just a special moment."
